The Christie Brown Academy (CBA) is an initiative aimed at upskilling designers committed to helping solve today’s fashion industry challenges. The CBA will enhance the skills of designers to be entrepreneurs, educators, and engaged citizens who influence the future of African fashion for good.
The CBA aims to act as an enhancement program, taking students from idea development to selling their product in six months, exhibiting the typical fashion cycle of a collection.
APPLICANT PROFILE
Are you a self-driven individual with a fashion industry background/ experience? Are you interested in learning the skills required to run or work within an operationally efficient fashion brand? Would you like to work with some of Africa’s brightest fashion minds to create a collection of your own?
Then you should consider the Christie Brown Academy.
AT A GLANCE
Dates: October – March 2025
Duration: Six months
Location: CBA Campus, Korle Gonno
Hours: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Days: Monday – Wednesday each week
Fee: Free with monthly transportation stipend provided
SEMESTER OVERVIEW
Semester 1: Foundation.
Semester 2: Business.
The World of Fashion Merchandizing and Retail Business.
SPECIAL PROGRAM FEATURES
A $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to three individuals who develop a unique and innovative concept that solves a particular problem in their local community with sustainability and technology as a primary focus.
All students will gain an official certificate, employment readiness and the opportunity to apply for a position at Christie Brown by the end of the program.
ATTACHMENTS REQUIRED
- National ID.
- Proof of completion (Certificate from Fashion School).
- Fashion Portfolio (PDF).
- Write an essay explaining three reasons why you would want to be accepted into the Christie Brown Academy (250-word limit).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must:
- Be a resident in Ghana.
- Aged 18 years or older.
- Have completed a fashion design program from a reputable institution or Tertiary Institution.
- Should know how to construct and sew garments.
- Be available to participate in lessons from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Wednesday for six months.
- Preference will be given to economically disadvantaged applicants.
