Key responsibilities

Compliance Rehabilitation Management

  • Develops, manages and schedules rehabilitation for all environmental approvals (State and Commonwealth) and other compliance-based considerations (including, but not limited mine site rehabilitation, biodiversity offsets, and weed & pest management)
  • Identifies resource requirements (people and equipment) to meet rehabilitation requirements that are known and requested by the business as needed.
  • Supports and provides input into the design and delivery of the strategies, frameworks, policies and practices for the workstream.
  • Manages the Environmental Impact Permit (EIP) process
  • Identifies and implements improvement initiatives, implementation plans and outcomes.
  • Provides regular and as required updates regarding the progress of rehabilitation and manages the schedule to ensure redundancies, efficiencies and manage risk as needed

 Technical Accountabilities

  • Promotes adherence to company policies and safe practices.
  • Understands and can implement business systems management principles and change management processes
  • Coordinates data provision for internal and external regulatory and voluntary reporting as required and supports the business by ensuring data is available, reliable and provided on time as required.
  • Understands rehabilitation, offset and closure requirements and NSW Govt and other industry standards and ensures all monitoring is compliant.
  • Provides technical analysis and can convert complex material into easy to understand narratives to effect change
  • Adept at advocacy and negotiation as well as conflict resolution and risk identification, management and mitigation
  • Understands and builds the capacity of others in monitoring software programs

Procurement and contractor management

  • Engage and manage specialist contractors to assist with rehabilitation, offset management and weed & pest management.
  • Undertake competitive tendering processes to ensure the best return on investment for the business

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor of Environmental Science or Engineering (Environmental) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing field studies and/ or environmental impact statements.
  • Practical knowledge of environmental rehabilitation and land management
  • Demonstrated capability in operating and maintaining an environmental management system, environmental risk registers and management plans.
  • Sound understanding of managing environmental compliance in plant operations and project execution.
  • Incident investigation, auditing skills, data analysis and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Understanding of NSW planning and regulatory framework for State Significant Developments
