Key responsibilities
Compliance Rehabilitation Management
- Develops, manages and schedules rehabilitation for all environmental approvals (State and Commonwealth) and other compliance-based considerations (including, but not limited mine site rehabilitation, biodiversity offsets, and weed & pest management)
- Identifies resource requirements (people and equipment) to meet rehabilitation requirements that are known and requested by the business as needed.
- Supports and provides input into the design and delivery of the strategies, frameworks, policies and practices for the workstream.
- Manages the Environmental Impact Permit (EIP) process
- Identifies and implements improvement initiatives, implementation plans and outcomes.
- Provides regular and as required updates regarding the progress of rehabilitation and manages the schedule to ensure redundancies, efficiencies and manage risk as needed
Technical Accountabilities
- Promotes adherence to company policies and safe practices.
- Understands and can implement business systems management principles and change management processes
- Coordinates data provision for internal and external regulatory and voluntary reporting as required and supports the business by ensuring data is available, reliable and provided on time as required.
- Understands rehabilitation, offset and closure requirements and NSW Govt and other industry standards and ensures all monitoring is compliant.
- Provides technical analysis and can convert complex material into easy to understand narratives to effect change
- Adept at advocacy and negotiation as well as conflict resolution and risk identification, management and mitigation
- Understands and builds the capacity of others in monitoring software programs
Procurement and contractor management
- Engage and manage specialist contractors to assist with rehabilitation, offset management and weed & pest management.
- Undertake competitive tendering processes to ensure the best return on investment for the business
REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor of Environmental Science or Engineering (Environmental) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in performing field studies and/ or environmental impact statements.
- Practical knowledge of environmental rehabilitation and land management
- Demonstrated capability in operating and maintaining an environmental management system, environmental risk registers and management plans.
- Sound understanding of managing environmental compliance in plant operations and project execution.
- Incident investigation, auditing skills, data analysis and report writing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
- Understanding of NSW planning and regulatory framework for State Significant Developments
