The Opportunity

Join our Mine Technical Services team at our Boddington mine site, located less than two hours from Perth and the coast. We're offering a unique Drive-in, Drive-out (DIDO) roster, allowing you to enjoy the lifestyle of the beautiful South West.

 

As the Senior Engineer Hydrological, you will be the on-site expert responsible for designing, constructing, and optimising pit dewatering, surface drainage, and groundwater monitoring systems. This role is the perfect blend of hands-on operational management and execution with strategic planning and capital project management. You’ll also ensure environmental compliance and collaborate with stakeholders to drive project success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the groundwater/ pore pressure monitoring network, collecting and analysing the data.
  • Ensure the integrity of mine surface drainage system, coordinating necessary remedial work in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
  • Routine reporting (daily/ weekly pit dewatering trackers, monthly pumping summary, quarterly pit hydrogeology tech memo, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and systems for data collection and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with the stakeholders regarding key issues, escalating as required.
  • Lead functional work plans, budgets, and data analysis campaigns for short- and long-term deliverables.
  • Participate and contribute to safety, environmental awareness, and social responsibility initiatives.

About You

We are looking for a qualified Engineer (Civil, Hydrogeological, Mining) with competence in the hydrology modelling, engineering designs and field engineering of various in-pit and ex-pit surface drainage systems.

 

Your experience in long-term strategic planning on mine surface water management, pit dewatering and pit hydrogeology will also be highly regarded.

 

Complementing your technical expertise you will also bring your:

  • Excellent communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Strong judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in GoldSim probabilistic water balance simulation models
