Job Purpose:
CalBank is seeking a Retail Credit Manager to oversee and supervise credit teams across Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, ensuring efficient credit delivery and offering advisory services to support various Strategic Business Units (SBUs). This role is critical for ensuring credit approval and guiding the credit process.
Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Act in the absence of the Head of Department (HoD)
🔹 Coordinate and supervise credit delivery across multiple credit centers (Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi)
🔹 Provide credit support and advisory services to SBUs
🔹 Manage a pipeline of complex credit requests
🔹 Review credit applications from Senior Analysts and Analysts before submission to the Management Credit Committee and Board Credit Committee
🔹 Guide and support analysts in structuring loan transactions
🔹 Supervise the restructuring of non-performing facilities
🔹 Gather legal, financial, and market intelligence to assess risk profiles of prospective borrowers and existing clients
🔹 Present credit requests to the Management Credit Committee
🔹 Address unspecified credit risk-related issues
🔹 Provide on-the-job training and supervision to credit analysts
🔹 Assist in recruiting and developing staff to meet operational requirements
🔹 Set objectives for and assess team performance, recommending rewards, recognition, and development
🔹 Collaborate with the HoD to ensure succession planning and identify future leaders
Qualifications & Experience:
🎓 Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, or related fields
📈 At least 7 years of experience within the credit function of a financial institution
📜 Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification is an added advantage
💡 Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct research in areas relevant to the bank
📝 Excellent report-writing skills
📊 A strong understanding of sectoral trends and risks
💻 Working knowledge of the financial system and regulatory framework
🌍 Broad understanding of general economic issues and current affairs
