JOB DESCRIPTION


 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
  • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
  • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
  • Accountable for team’s environmental obligations and performances.
  • Conduct formal meetings with team and report any weaknesses in the environmental procedures.
  • Enforce all environmental work procedures that have been issued by the Departmental Manager.
  • Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the Departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative.
  • Coordinate maintenance personnel shifts and assignments, ensuring skilled labor is allocated to meet operational and maintenance demands.
  • Maintain an updated schedule for all maintenance activities, coordinating with supervisors and team leaders to minimize disruption to mining operations.
  • Allocate tools, equipment, and materials to maintenance tasks, ensuring resources are optimally used to prevent delays and maximize productivity.
  • Track and analyze resource usage to identify areas for improved efficiency, adjusting resource allocations as needed to meet maintenance goals.
  • Manage inventory levels for critical spare parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring the maintenance team has the resources needed to complete tasks.
  • Work closely with procurement to order parts and supplies in advance, minimizing the risk of downtime due to equipment shortages.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance schedules and plans, coordinating resources to align with planned and preventive maintenance.
  • Support maintenance planners and supervisors by ensuring that resources are ready and available for planned maintenance activities, such as shutdowns and major repairs.
  • Maintain detailed records of resource allocations, usage, and availability, using data to generate reports for management on resource efficiency and potential bottlenecks.
  • Update maintenance logs and track completed work, resource utilization, and any issues encountered for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor resource-related expenses, identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising safety or efficiency.
  • Collaborate with finance and procurement to stay within budget, making cost-effective resource choices and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure all resources, including tools and equipment, are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Coordinate safety training and certifications for maintenance personnel, ensuring they have the qualifications necessary for safe work in an underground environment.
  • Serve as a liaison between maintenance teams, operations, procurement, and other departments to facilitate effective communication and resource sharing.
  • Communicate scheduling, resource changes, and maintenance updates to all relevant stakeholders, promoting a seamless flow of information.
  • Identify resource-related inefficiencies and work with team leaders to implement improvements to streamline maintenance workflows.
  • Resolve resource allocation issues in real-time, ensuring maintenance activities proceed smoothly and support overall mine productivity.

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Applied Science, Built Environment or related field with minimum of 3 years of relevant mining industry experience OR
  • Diploma in Engineering Mechanical, Electrical, Maintenance, Civil, Construction Management etc. with minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR
  • Technician III Certificate with minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

 

Experience:

  • Three to Six (3-6) years in planning or resource coordination roles
  • Must have Relevant Mining industry Experience.

  • Demonstrated ability for project delivery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel from technical, to management.
  • Evaluate progression and adherence to deadlines on a routine basis.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, motivational and organizational skills.
  • Professional approach to maintaining contractor, authority, and client relationships.
  • Able to work harmoniously with a diverse array of personnels.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships, with a range of stakeholders.
  • Displaying high levels of integrity and honesty.
  • Demonstrated experience knowledge base in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, knowledge of SAP PM Maturity Journey is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of applying wrench time to capacity planning and scheduling principles and a working knowledge of MS Project.
  • Demonstrate ability to inspect and confirm repair specifications for rotable spares.
