POSITION SUMMARY:
Ecom Agrotrade, a leading global commodity merchant and sustainable supply chain management company, is seeking a highly motivated, target‐driven, detailed oriented and innovative Regional Accountant with a track record of excellence in Accounting, IT, and a fair idea of cocoa operations on regional scale in Ghana or West Africa. The Regional Accountant will oversee the buying of cocoa, assist with Risk Assessment and Compliance as well as Audit District Level books in accordance with company requirements.
The Regional Accountant will have oversight of approximately four districts and will work together with the Regional Manager, and Franchise Holders promote commercial activities within the Region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Regional Accountant will have the following responsibilities for his districts:
Profitability Analysis
Prepare P&L for every district and the entire Region
Calculate Cycle Time for each district and the Region
Submit Overheads Analysis
Collections &Reconciliations
Collect and manage payments for products and services
Collect deductions from Electronic Scales
Risk Management, Legal Support and Internal Controls
● Assist Regional Manger to ensure prudent cash flow management of the Region
● Assist the Regional Manager in carrying out periodic risk assessment
● Prepare Market Share Analysis report (Region-wise performance against competition)
● Counter-sign cheques
● Do bank reconciliations
Reporting
● District Payables reconciliations (Buffer payments, Truck/Pickup deductions etc.)
● Dispatch Monitoring Report (Track dispatches, SIT, Arrivals, Offloading and Rejections)
● Track Port expenses, discrepant Cost and Losses – REGIONAL PORT REPORT
● Undertake periodic stock count and perform checks on all district documentations
● Validate information and ensure FH books and ledgers are reconciled weekly
● Undertake district bank account reconciliation and prepare monthly report
● Validate returns and submit to head office
Monitoring & Audit (SAP & EMPOWER)
● Conduct field visits to review district documentations and undertake stock count
● Vet and review all entries made by franchise holders on Empower (Ensure 100% accuracy)
● Submit data for SAP when facing Empower challenges.
● Carry out periodic audit in the region, provide assistance to external auditors as required and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations
● Undertake any other responsibility that will ensure smooth and effective implementation of the regional as directed by the regional manager
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential
● Minimum educational level required: Bachelor’s Degree finance/Accounting
● Technical qualifications required: Good working knowledge of MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint
● Experience: 3 – 5 years in similar position.
Desirable
● Strong interest or background in audit will be a plus
● Experience in setting up and maintaining a computerized accounting system
● Practical knowledge and experience with accounting software like SAGE and SAP
● Practical working experience in rural communities and cocoa industry
● Committed to meeting deadlines, and willingness to work extra hours and sometimes on weekends as and when required;
● Willingness to live and work in the Field/required district
