JOB DESCRIPTION
The Role
- Evaluate, underwrite, and issue property & casualty insurance policies while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain underwriting and service standards through thorough account reviews, risk assessments, and strategic file documentation.
- Process policies, schedules and endorsements on both underwriting and broker systems, creating and issuing all relevant documentation.
- Liaise daily with team members, underwriters, brokers, and agents to foster strong relationships, address client-related issues, and implement tailored insurance. solutions. Work cross-functionally to identify and mitigate key risks while promoting the company’s services.
- Negotiate terms, coverage, and pricing for complex insurance programs while balancing client needs and company objectives.
- Conduct and oversee risk surveys, site inspections, and assessments to evaluate clients' property and casualty exposures, and prepare detailed reports highlighting potential hazards and recommending risk mitigation measures.
- Prepare and present periodic reports on underwriting performance, risk exposure, and loss ratios to senior management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks in property and casualty insurance.
- Work with product development teams to design innovative insurance products and solutions.
- Ensure all communications are recorded and relayed clearly and in a timely manner.
- Take ownership of assigned projects.
- Oversee the implementation of portfolio changes.
The Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of underwriting experience in Property & Casualty insurance, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, with a strong understanding of market trends.
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, business administration, or a related field. Professional certifications such as ACII, CPCU, or ARM are highly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of underwriting principles, regulatory requirements, and risk assessment, including experience conducting and interpreting risk surveys.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and negotiation skills with well-developed decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt effectively in a dynamic environment.
