JOB DESCRIPTION


 

The Role

  • Evaluate, underwrite, and issue property & casualty insurance policies while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain underwriting and service standards through thorough account reviews, risk assessments, and strategic file documentation.
  • Process policies, schedules and endorsements on both underwriting and broker systems, creating and issuing all relevant documentation.
  • Liaise daily with team members, underwriters, brokers, and agents to foster strong relationships, address client-related issues, and implement tailored insurance. solutions. Work cross-functionally to identify and mitigate key risks while promoting the company’s services.
  • Negotiate terms, coverage, and pricing for complex insurance programs while balancing client needs and company objectives.
  • Conduct and oversee risk surveys, site inspections, and assessments to evaluate clients' property and casualty exposures, and prepare detailed reports highlighting potential hazards and recommending risk mitigation measures.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on underwriting performance, risk exposure, and loss ratios to senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks in property and casualty insurance.
  • Work with product development teams to design innovative insurance products and solutions.
  • Ensure all communications are recorded and relayed clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Oversee the implementation of portfolio changes.
     

The Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of underwriting experience in Property & Casualty insurance, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, with a strong understanding of market trends.
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, business administration, or a related field. Professional certifications such as ACII, CPCU, or ARM are highly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of underwriting principles, regulatory requirements, and risk assessment, including experience conducting and interpreting risk surveys.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and negotiation skills with well-developed decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt effectively in a dynamic environment.
