JOB DESCRIPTION


As Part Of Our Team You Will:

  • Lead daily process operations to ensure efficient and effective production, maintaining quality standards and meeting production targets.
  • Plan and direct plant production volume to meet schedules and delivery dates.
  • Coordinate with maintenance plans for plant equipment to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Prepare work schedules and ensure that the process equipment is run to give the best economic return between equipment longevity and throughput.
  • Coordinate activities with technical, metallurgical and assay departments; maintain metallurgical operations standards.
  • Assess opportunities for process optimization and execute improvement plans to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Adhere to all process operations complying with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Monitor key performance indicators KPIs for process operations, assess data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Deliver detailed reports on process performance, including production metrics, safety incidents, and improvement initiatives. 
  • Write Authorization for Expenditure (AFEs) for capital expenditures that will improve throughputs, reduce costs or improve efficiencies.
  • Guide, mentor, and refine the process operations team, providing training and professional growth opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Execute regular performance evaluations, deliver feedback and plan goals to ensure continuous improvement and impactful team morale.
  • Responsible for assessing relevant risks, executing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks.
  • Manage Processing contractors to adhere to compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations, while coordinating alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage short term Processing Production Planning.  
  • Provide input to Business plan and processing Operational costs.
     

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering or Mineral Processing or related field and equivalent combination of training and experience in leading a large multi-national processing plant.
  • Process /Plant/Metallurgical Superintendent’s Certificate of Competency from the inspectorate division of Minerals Commission, Ghana.

 

Additional Knowledge:

  • Detailed knowledge of process operations.
  • Strong understanding of site operational requirements.

 

Experience:

  • A combined management or superintendent level experience in the mining industry of construction, commissioning and operational phases of large-scale processing plant.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ working experience in a mineral processing plant, with a minimum of 5 years in gold processing and demonstrated expertise in SAG grinding.
  • Management and supervisory experience with a large group of employees, (both staff and hourly) in a developing country is preferred 
  • Process start-up experience would be a plus.

  • Monitoring and diagnosing operational processes while observing people or events, working in established systems and processes. 
  • Comparing data collected from the operations process with a known model or system.
  • Imagining how tasks might be completed without direct, physical, hands-on feedback. 
  • Trial & error of solving problems may not be sufficient.
  • Extrapolated patterns are regarded as information. 
  • Improving working methods using significant data and patterns; determining whether a diagnosis is correct or whether it may occur from another pattern. 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced contract management.

  • Competent project management proficiency.
