About This Role

  • Respect at Work is one of the strategic drivers in the Health, Safety, and Security Pillar in the 2024 Newmont Key Objectives Map. The Respect at Work team implements strategies to accelerate cultural change at Newmont to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace for everyone.
     

In This Role You Will:

  • Lead and embed Respect at Work frameworks and principles to reflect societal and cultural norms.
  • Deliver subject matter expert (SME) support to Business Units (Bus), to drive targeted response to Respect at Work issues.
  • Develop and implement feedback mechanisms and metrics to measure effectiveness and workforce perceptions.
  • Advise Operational Leaders to effectively embed Respect at Work principles and frameworks to develop a respectful workplace culture.
  • Drive improvements based on standardized global frameworks and gap assessments.
  • Identify Respect at Work-related risks and implement effective controls to mitigate them.
  • Facilitate incorporation of Respect at Work principles into existing systems and processes.
  • Continuously engage with external and industry bodies and peers to ensure benchmarking and best practices in approach.
  • Facilitate the development of Respect at Work communications and engagement strategies.
  • Link and align Respect at Work activities to related Site / Business Unit activities and plans.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Organizational Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Human Resources or Communications or related discipline.

 

Experience:

  • Experience executing cultural transformation programs focused on safe and respectful behaviors, within large operational workforces.
  • Strong understanding of operational systems, processes and routines to embed new ways of working related to Respect at Work.
  • Experience in partnering cross functionally, and with Senior Leaders to design and implement cultural change programs that are sustainable. 
  • Understanding of operational risks and challenges when engaging with a diverse frontline / non-wired workforce. 
  • Strong communication and cultural change implementation experience, demonstrating incorporation of cultural and societal norms.
  • Ability to scope, develop and pilot innovative responses to Respect at Work issues, in alignment with business priorities within geographical regions. 
  • Experience coaching and supporting Leaders to build a team culture that is psychologically safe.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in developing and delivering cultural change programs that promote a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Advanced proficiency in driving behavior change in a heavy industry / operational environment through partnering and influencing Leaders.
  • Advanced proficiency in change management principles and communication, particularly in executions system implementation and behavioral change.
  • Competent proficiency in incorporating industry trends and best practice in alignment with existing programs, cultural and societal norms.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, problem solving and negotiating outcomes with major stakeholders.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including the ability to participate as part of cross functional leadership teams, anticipate and mitigate barriers and challenges.
  • Advanced facilitation skills.
  • Competent proficiency in safety processes, systems and approaches.
     

Working Conditions

  • This role is part of a diverse global team responsible for our Africa sites and offices, therefore we can be flexible to where this role is based across our key regional locations.
  • Due to the nature of the role, working with varied time zones will be required and travel to our operational sites.
