About Numida 

Numida uses proprietary credit models and tech-enabled underwriting processes to provide unsecured working capital loans to African micro and small businesses. Instead of borrowing from informal lenders or family, business owners download the Numida app, apply in minutes, and receive capital within a day. There’s 20 million of these businesses in Africa representing a $5 billion market opportunity and traditional micronance is failing them. We have gured out how to score and disburse unsecured loans to cash-based businesses that have no digital transaction history, with excellent collection rates. Job purpose: The Partnerships Manager is responsible for achieving the growth objectives of Numida, by leading the development and management of strategic partnerships and driving the implementation of new financial products, services, and processes that align with the company’s strategic goals. 

Reporting Line: This role will report to the Director of Growth and is responsible for Business Development Associates (6 months post-joining); Account Managers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Partnerships 

● Identify and evaluate potential partners, including financial institutions, technology companies, major distributors/manufacturers and other stakeholders in the fintech and MSME ecosystems. 

● Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners. 

● Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring mutual benefits, profitable scalability and long-term collaboration. 

● Collaborate with partners to co-develop and co-market innovative financial products and services. 

● Target: Launch 2-3 partnership pilots per quarter with outstanding loan portfolios of $200K+ each 

Innovation Strategy and Execution: 

● Identify emerging trends, technologies, and market opportunities for Numida within the digital MSME lending space. 

● Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform innovation initiatives. 

● Leverage partnerships to test out innovative products in a nimble manner, i.e. less than 3 months to go-to-market 

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: 

● Work closely with internal teams, including product development, finance, marketing, and operations, to ensure alignment and collaboration of partnership projects. 

● Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry experts, to gather insights and feedback. 

Performance Monitoring and Reporting: 

● Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of partnership. 

● Prepare and present regular reports on the status of projects and partnerships, including risks, challenges, and outcomes. 

● Use data-driven insights to continuously improve and refine partnership products 

Profile: 

● A forward-thinking individual with a strong understanding of the Lending / Finance landscape in East Africa, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to innovate and execute 

● 5+ years of experience in a sales or business development role 

● Product management experience will be a significant advantage 

● Experience managing a small team, ideally a product development or business development team, is a plus but not necessary 

● Able to create and present high-quality presentations/slides 

● A self-starter capable of working independently and taking the lead on long-term partnership building 

● Has strong communication skills including the ability to deliver a clear story to influence agreement to your recommendations, ideally backed by data and insights 

Key Performance Indicators

● Portfolio value of partnership clients 

● Number of new partnerships signed per quarter with portfolio value > $200,000 

● Net yield (profitability) of Partnership portfolio
