Job Overview
The Network Technician will be primarily responsible for maintaining and supporting the company's network, with involvement in design and implementation as required. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in network architecture, configuration, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and security of our network systems
Job Summary:
◻ Configure and physically install network devices (e.g., datacenter switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, network access control devices) and underlying infrastructure. Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware is essential.
◻ Monitor network performance, conduct regular assessments, and propose necessary upgrades or improvements to ensure network stability and security.
◻ Lead small-scale network changes or projects and collaborate with service partners on complex design integrations, ensuring proper documentation
◻ Diagnose and resolve network hardware, software, and system issues, escalating complex cases when necessary and providing L2/L3 support.
◻ Configure firewall security and access policies in alignment with industry best practices and corporate guidelines.
◻ Implement network configurations and changes following approved templates and change management processes.
Key Skills
◻ Documentation & Network Diagrams: Create and maintain accurate network diagrams and documentation to assist with planning, troubleshooting, and system upgrades. Ensure these documents are up to date and readily available for team members.
◻ Cross-Department Collaboration: Work effectively with both internal departments and external service providers to ensure seamless integration and operation of the network infrastructure.
◻ Operational & Technical Support: Provide integration and operational support for various systems, including radio communication systems, IP telephony, DGPS, and automation platforms, to maintain uninterrupted operations.
◻ Knowledge Transfer & Training: Share knowledge on new deployments or network improvements with the IT team, including mentoring junior staff and helping them develop their troubleshooting and network management skills.
◻ Flexibility & Dependability: Be flexible in supporting business-critical operations, including occasional after-hours or weekend work to address urgent network issues or implement significant upgrades.
Required Skills & Experience:
◻ Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
◻ Experience: 3-5 years of experience in maintaining and supporting complex network infrastructures, with some exposure to network design and implementation. ◻ Certifications: Advanced certifications such as PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), and CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) are preferred but not required.
◻ Technical Expertise: Proven experience with Cisco and Palo Alto network devices is essential. Familiarity with other network vendors (e.g., Juniper, Fortinet) is advantageous.
