JOB DESCRIPTION


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Management (Please note that 70% of this role's responsibilities require Social Media management):

  • Manage ALX South Africa’s social media accounts, including TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
  • Schedule and post content consistently while maintaining a cohesive brand voice and identity.
  • Engage actively with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a professional and timely manner.
  • Host interactive sessions like Q&As, live streams, and polls to increase engagement and foster a thriving online community.

Content Creation & Storytelling:

  • Attend ALX events, activations, and community activities to capture and create real-time, authentic content.
  • Independently shoot, edit, and publish high-quality visuals and videos, with a focus on TikTok trends and storytelling.
  • Collaborate with videographers, photographers, and designers as needed, but confidently produce content yourself when required.
  • Source inspiring stories from learners, alumni, and the community to showcase their journeys and successes.
  • Translate ALX’s mission into engaging, visually impactful content across platforms.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Learning, Community Experience, Entrepreneurship, and Activation teams to source content ideas and stay aligned with program goals.
  • Partner with the Marketing Manager to execute campaigns and develop creative strategies that amplify ALX’s impact.
  • Build strong relationships with learners, alumni, and stakeholders to deepen community engagement and encourage user-generated content.

Campaigns & Strategy:

  • Create and execute social media campaigns that align with marketing objectives, leveraging TikTok trends and challenges to drive growth and engagement.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions to develop innovative content and campaign ideas.
  • Stay updated on the latest social media trends, platform updates, and emerging tools to ensure ALX remains relevant and engaging.

Analytics & Optimization:

  • Track and analyze social media metrics (e.g., reach, engagement, follower growth) using analytics tools.
  • Provide monthly reports with actionable insights to optimize content and campaign strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for growth based on performance data and community feedback.

  • Proactive & Energetic: You’re a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings vibrancy to your work.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-4 years of experience in social media marketing, content creation, or a related field (TikTok expertise is essential).
  • Proven track record of managing social accounts and creating viral, high-engagement content.
  • Strong photography, videography, and editing skills (mobile and desktop tools).
  • Proficiency with Canva and other content creation tools (Adobe Spark, mobile editing apps, etc.).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to source and develop content.
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • A passion for social media, storytelling, and connecting with communities.
