Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement the mine’s long-term strategic plans in line with corporate objectives.
    • Establish operational goals, budgets, and performance targets to maximize profitability and efficiency.
    • Identify opportunities for growth, expansion, or diversification of mining activities.
  2. Operational Management:
    • Oversee daily operations, including exploration, extraction, processing, and logistics.
    • Ensure that production targets are met or exceeded while maintaining cost efficiency.
    • Monitor and improve operational processes, productivity, and equipment performance.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Promote a culture of safety and ensure all employees adhere to safety protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international mining laws and regulations.
    • Implement and oversee environmental sustainability initiatives and community development programs.
  4. Financial Oversight:
    • Manage the mine’s budget, financial performance, and cost control measures.
    • Oversee financial reporting, risk management, and capital expenditure planning.
    • Drive profitability by identifying cost-saving measures and optimizing resource allocation.
  5. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of senior managers and operational staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Develop succession plans and training programs to ensure workforce competency.
  6. Stakeholder Relations:
    • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders.
    • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public forums.
    • Communicate effectively with shareholders and the corporate office on operational progress and challenges.
  7. Risk Management:
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with mining operations.
    • Develop and implement contingency plans for emergencies, including safety incidents or environmental impacts.
  8. Innovation and Technology:
    • Drive the adoption of innovative technologies to improve mining processes and efficiency.
    • Stay informed on industry trends and advancements in mining practices.
    • Encourage research and development to enhance operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of mining operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
