Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the mine’s long-term strategic plans in line with corporate objectives.
- Establish operational goals, budgets, and performance targets to maximize profitability and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for growth, expansion, or diversification of mining activities.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations, including exploration, extraction, processing, and logistics.
- Ensure that production targets are met or exceeded while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Monitor and improve operational processes, productivity, and equipment performance.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure all employees adhere to safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international mining laws and regulations.
- Implement and oversee environmental sustainability initiatives and community development programs.
- Financial Oversight:
- Manage the mine’s budget, financial performance, and cost control measures.
- Oversee financial reporting, risk management, and capital expenditure planning.
- Drive profitability by identifying cost-saving measures and optimizing resource allocation.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of senior managers and operational staff.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Develop succession plans and training programs to ensure workforce competency.
- Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public forums.
- Communicate effectively with shareholders and the corporate office on operational progress and challenges.
- Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with mining operations.
- Develop and implement contingency plans for emergencies, including safety incidents or environmental impacts.
- Innovation and Technology:
- Drive the adoption of innovative technologies to improve mining processes and efficiency.
- Stay informed on industry trends and advancements in mining practices.
- Encourage research and development to enhance operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of mining operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
