Functions And Responsibilities
Review invoices and payments for accuracy, relevance and authorization as well as timely capturing of payments in the financial system in line with donor requirements
Performs Accounts Payable Functions.
Responsible for Payroll Processing.
Support the Finance Controller in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Maintain general ledgers, cash books, debtors and creditors ledgers.
Work with program and administrative staff to ensure donor regulations are strictly adhered to during project implementation
Performs monthly bank reconciliation
Track and report on budget variances, providing insights and recommendations for corrective actions.
Prepare and file statutory returns including withholding tax and PAYE returns
Assist in generating the relevant source documents during internal and external audits
Review staff timesheets to ensure accuracy and correct charging and time allocation per organization and donor guidelines.
Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure adequate funds are available for operations.
Assist with the preparation and submission of financial reports to donors and other stakeholders.
Support Finance Controller with month close
Ensure effective resource utilization and safeguarding TechnoServe’s Assets whilst maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
Assist in training of field staff on the TechnoServe policies, guidelines and donor requirements
Support the implementation of new financial policies and procedure
Reviewing financial system codes allocated to costs in line with Donor Budget requirements for completeness, correctness and accuracy
Manage and tracking of staff travel advances and reconciliations.
Maintain high levels of confidentiality in relation to sensitive and confidential financial information and decisions
Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations and ensure implementation of agreed recommendations
Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics with a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting OR an MBA and a minimum of 1 year of experience.
Demonstrated experience and skill in planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial management and financial reporting, preferably with an international NGO.
Competent to Advanced level in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent IT skills with experience of operating computer-based financial management systems.
Required Languages: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including fluency in English (equivalent to R4/S4)
Preferred Qualifications:
A professional certification in CPA, ACCA is a plus
Experience in working with projects funded by international donors (USAID, USDA, Mastercard Foundation and other international donors) is an advantage
Familiarity with Serenic Navigator or similar finance and accounting software is preferred.
