Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain structured cooperation frameworks with relevant UK and international partners to support the organization goals and strategy.
- As agreed with the Chief of IR, connect, cultivate and enhance personal working relationships with key institutions, policymakers and policy influencers in UK, in other assigned member states and within relevant international organizations.
- Monitor and stay informed about relevant policymaking efforts in the UK; update and work collaboratively with other IR team members to ensure alignment of IR strategies and priorities.
- Represent the IR and EMBL by acting as liaison in relationships with internal and external partners in assigned countries/organizations.
- Related to the above, assemble written material such as briefings, memos, letters, fact sheets, reports and strategy documents; organize meetings and visits; prepare presentations and any other documentation as necessary.
The role will require some evening and weekend work and occasional travel to other EMBL sites or external locations. This position will be based on campus in Hinxton with the flexibility to work from home, as per our hybrid working guidelines.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in international relations, political or social sciences
- Between 5-7 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of contemporary science policy issues and a good understanding of the UK political and science-policy environment is highly desirable and will be preferred
- The position requires outstanding organisational skills, good attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, diplomatic approach, ability to work both independently and as part of team, and commitment to meet deadlines.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- A willingness to travel to our other European sites as required
