Key Responsibilities

Import Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee and coordinate the entire import process from supplier to destination.
  • Ensure timely and efficient shipment of goods while minimizing delays and costs.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping companies, and transport providers.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and review import documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies.
  • Apply for necessary import permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals.

Supplier & Vendor Coordination

  • Communicate with international suppliers to track orders and shipping schedules.
  • Negotiate terms with vendors and shipping companies to secure favorable rates and delivery times.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any import-related issues.

Customs Clearance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Work with customs agents to facilitate smooth customs clearance and avoid delays.
  • Ensure accurate tariff classifications, duty payments, and tax calculations.
  • Stay updated on changes in import regulations and compliance requirements.

Cost Control & Risk Management

  • Monitor import costs, including freight, duties, and taxes, to optimize spending.
  • Identify risks in the import process and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure proper insurance coverage for imported goods.

Reporting & Record-Keeping

  • Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and shipments.
  • Prepare reports on import activities, costs, and supplier performance.
  • Analyze import trends and recommend process improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in import/export operations or supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import documentation.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
