 Job Summary: 

Responsible for managing the Health & Safety aspects of the Yankton Operation to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and conformance with Hydro’s policies and procedures. In addition, assists the HSE Manager in providing overall strategic direction of HSE programs at Yankton. 

 Required Education/Experience: 

High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Occupational Health & Safety or related field) or at least 5 years of health, safety, or environmental experience
1+ years of experience in a role leading HSE programs

 Preferred Skills/Qualifications:  

Prior manufacturing environment experience is preferred. 

 Job Responsibilities: 

Provide overall strategic direction of all Health & Safety programs and practices for the Yankton Operation. Ensures practices are aligned to Hydro’s standards.
Assists HSE management with goal setting measurements.
Develops, recommends, and implements processes to assure compliance with all applicable government regulations including documentation, reporting and training. Reviews current programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable government and company regulations. 
Provide communication and training to all personnel. 
Interfaces with manufacturing department leadership regarding programs and practices to address areas of concern. Develops methods of tracking HSE improvements.
Participates in all aspects of company safety, health, and medical compliance.
Consistently applies knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and supports regulatory compliance of company HSE procedures.
Promotes a culture that believes in zero injuries and zero non-compliance incidents.
Provides direction on managing programs/policies and providing technical expertise for management of all environmental, health, and safety issues.
Responsible for maintaining awareness and proactively influences emerging and existing HSE laws/regulations, which may impact plant operations.
Alert Corporate & other plant location’s management of areas of risk.
Provides technical support and direction for companywide environmental, health, & safety and medical compliance practices.
Demonstrates continual focus on HSE improvements and enhancements.
Ability to travel on occasion if necessary
