Key Responsibilities:

  1. Translation and Interpretation:
    • Translate written documents, reports, and communications from one language to another with accuracy.
    • Provide oral interpretation during meetings, conferences, and events.
    • Ensure culturally sensitive and contextually accurate translations.
  2. Editing and Proofreading:
    • Review and edit translated documents for grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
    • Ensure adherence to organizational guidelines, terminology, and tone.
  3. Linguistic Support:
    • Develop and maintain glossaries, terminology databases, and language guides.
    • Provide advice on language usage, cultural nuances, and localization.
    • Assist with language training or workshops for staff when required.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain organized records of translated documents and communications.
    • Prepare reports summarizing translation activities and language needs.
  5. Collaboration and Liaison:
    • Work closely with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to understand language requirements.
    • Act as a bridge for communication between multilingual teams or external entities.
  6. Cultural Sensitivity and Research:
    • Stay informed about cultural, social, and political contexts of the target languages.
    • Conduct research on specific language or dialect variations to ensure precision.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications in translation or interpretation (e.g., CIOL, ATA) are an advantage.
  2. Experience:
    • Proven experience in translation, interpretation, or language-related roles.
    • Familiarity with specialized fields such as legal, medical, or technical translations is a plus.
  3. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in multiple languages, including fluency in at least two languages (spoken and written).
    • Familiarity with translation software and tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ).
    • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
