Job Description


Key accountabilities and decision ownership 

  1. Financial Management & Reporting
    • Oversee the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, mobile money processes.
    • Support timely and accurate financial reporting, ensuring adherence to IFRS and other applicable financial regulations.
    • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial transactions.
    • Oversee validation, reconciliations & booking processes of all revenue streams (Voice, data, IDD, Interconnect & other)
  2. Cash Flow Management
    • Support cash flow planning and liquidity management to ensure financial stability.
    • Optimize working capital by managing accounts payable and receivable efficiently.
    • Oversee relationships with Dealers & distributors (Sales, Reconciliations & collection)
    • Oversee Accounts receivable daily & monthly reconciliations of all collection channels & ensure financial records reconcile with billing systems.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of financial resources & adherence to financial commitments of vendors.
    • Monitor Mobile money daily bank transactions & floats. Ensure adherence of the Mobile Money processes with Bank of Ghana as well as organizational regulations
  3. Internal Controls & Compliance
    • Design and implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
    • Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements.
  4. Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
    • Drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
    • Work closely with IT and Finance teams to optimize the use of financial systems and automation tools
    • Monitor and evaluate financial operations metrics to identify areas for improvement
  5. Stakeholder Management & Leadership
    • Collaborate with senior management to align financial operations with business objectives.
    • Lead and develop a high-performing Financial Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
    • Maintain a solid team & ensure proper rotation between team members across financial operation functions.

Core Competencies, knowledge, and experience 

  • Strong understanding of financial operations, internal controls, and risk management.
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS, tax laws, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Expertise in cash flow management, treasury operations, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to lead and drive transformation initiatives in financial processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms.

Must have technical / professional qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in financial operations, treasury, or financial reporting within a telecom, technology, or fast-moving industry.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA – Ghana, UK, or other ECOWAS institutes) or MBA from a reputable university.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing financial operations teams and driving process improvements.
  • Experience working with external auditors, regulatory authorities, and financial institutions.
  • Strong proficiency in financial systems, ERP tools, and Excel
