Job Description:

Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate timely implementation of project activities at commune level in collaboration with community-based institutions and local partners;
  • Conduct monitoring of project activities’ budget, ensuring proper accountability of resources mobilized for the community and other partners;
  • Facilitate the capacity building of Community Health Workers (CHWs), Agriculture monitors, FARN mother leaders and Mother Support Group (MSG) Leaders to conduct community mobilization activities: screening and referral of children, facilitation of FARN sessions and follow up of rehabilitated children, nutrition education through MSGs;
  • Support the local health institutions in planning and monitoring of the project activities;
  • Network with community groups and communal institutions, the Church and other local partners to identify areas of possible cooperation, resource mobilization and technology transfer;
  • Represent World Vision in workshops and meetings at community level as required;
  • Organize project review, reflection and learning forums at communal level;
  • Generate and maintain monthly project reports to the Supervisor in accordance with Donor requirements

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Qualification required: Bachelor degree in Health (Nursing), communication, Degree in public health preferred.
  • Experience:  A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Health, nutrition or HIV/AIDS, Food security and communication programs with a governmental or non-Governmental Organization (NGO)
  • Preferred:  2 years’ experience in the implementation of community-based nutrition approaches (FARN, care groups, mother support groups) and Food security, reproductive health and communication

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Good communication skills in Kirundi and French
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Good ability to produce written reports in French
  • Must hold a motorcycle driving license
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Must have good interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Ability to hold confidential and sensitive information
  • Able to work under limited supervision
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and partners at all levels
  • Good experience in motorcycle driving

Working Environment / Conditions

  • Travel: 20 % Domestic travel is required.
