RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Publishing Division team, with outstanding people leadership skills.
  • Lead the strategy, work plan, and operations of the Publishing Division, setting clear priorities while remaining agile to evolving needs.
  • Advise the Director and senior COM leadership on the strategy and direction of the IMF publications program, the IMF’s public website (IMF.org) and eLibrary site (elibrary.IMF.org), and on the divisional work program.
  • Collaborate closely within COM and with other IMF departments and stakeholders to strengthen the role, awareness, and governance of institutional publishing and digital content distribution and dissemination.
  • Lead modernization, innovation, and change to continually align the institution’s publications program and external digital presence with IMF’s strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate COMPD’s work with authoring departments, other COM and Fund staff, and outside vendors to manage the IMF’s publication pipeline and coordinate publications’ preparation, release, and supporting outreach under tight deadlines.
  • Oversee relationship with, and work of, internal and external service providers, including to manage resources to ensure effective implementation of publishing and digital projects, engage with implementation partners, and provide guidance and input to all parties.
  • Manage the IMF institutional budget for the publications program.
  • Contribute to various high-level IT policy and funding bodies, effectively representing and advocating for COM’s publishing and digital content vision and work.
  • As a member of COM’s management team, substantively contribute to broader departmental strategy and operational direction.
  • Continue to improve the discoverability, presentation, and usability of the Fund’s publications and online digital platforms and strengthen digital metrics and impact reporting, with a view to applying lessons learned and growing the reach of the IMF’s messages.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience, with supervisory/managerial experience.
  • ​The ideal candidate will be a communications expert with in-depth knowledge of the IMF’s mission, priorities, and policy work as well as of global economic and financial issues.
  •  She/he will have proven and extensive experience in the rapidly evolving publishing and digital communications fields. 
  • She/he will be a highly strategic thinker with the ability to execute very effective operations and have a track record of delivering results and impact by leveraging digital publishing, effectively delivering online content to broad audiences, and developing products that connect with the IMF’s audiences and support the institution’s mission.
  •  In particular, she/he will have a strong technical understanding of best practices and processes in publishing, website and platform management, marketing, distribution, and effective oversight of complex budgets and a broad range of external service providers.
  •  The successful candidate will bring innovative ideas, the ability to initiate and implement change, and a forward-looking vision for modernizing IMF publications.
  • She/he will be a people leader, with demonstrated ability to lead teams, delegate, and coach and mentor staff. 
  • The successful candidate will be an innate collaborator and a learner, with excellent judgment and strong analytical skills. Strong organizational and planning skills are a must. Knowledge of languages other than English are a plus.
