JOB DESCRIPTION
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Monitor and report on environmental events, trends, and compliance across multiple sites.
- Lead environmental risk management efforts, ensuring regulatory adherence and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and communities.
- Provide strategic guidance on sustainability initiatives, environmental standards, and permitting processes.
- Support closure planning, cost estimation, and compliance reviews.
- Travel frequently (Minimum 10 days per month) to support site teams and ensure effective environmental management.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field.
- Experience: Strong background in environmental compliance, sustainability, and risk management (preferably in the mining industry). Leading a team of internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge: Expertise in environmental laws, permitting, and sustainability frameworks (Canada & Africa preferred). Regulatory and Permitting knowledge specific to BC, Canada is ideal.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and strategic problem-solving abilities. Adept at working with and managing external consultants
Your Work Environment
- The candidate in this role will be based in Canada (Vancouver office or remote), Ghana or the US
- Role will significant travel to operational sites, minimum of 10 days every month.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
