JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
- Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
- Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
- Conducts a site analysis to identify soil and climatic conditions and propose suitable solutions. Develops a technical and operational plan for the implementation of the tree nursery.
- Supervises the purchase and installation of necessary equipment and materials. Ensures the production of seeds and seedlings according to quality standards. Trains and supervising a local team on production techniques and nursery management.
- Writes periodic reports on the progress of activities and making recommendations to improve results. Provides a detailed work plan for the implementation of the tree nursery.
- Hires and supervising regional office staff and FCP-based staff to establish and care for the Tree Nursery. Selects appropriate plant species based on the project objectives and local conditions. Sets up the necessary infrastructure (greenhouses, irrigation systems, composting areas, etc.).
- Monitors and evaluates the tree nursery to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness.
- Helps prepare data, reports, and findings to support management and key stakeholders in improving program initiatives, interventions and child outcomes.
- This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive; additional tasks may be assigned to the agronomist as part of the project implementation.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in agronomy.
Experience
- Significant experience (at least 3 years) in the establishment and management of tree nurseries.
- Solid background or demonstrated knowledge in agroforestry practices and systems.
- Proven experience in project management
- Familiarity with renewable energy production, particularly solar energy systems
Licenses and Certifications
- Hold at least a university degree in agronomy and have completed at least one (1) training course in fields related to trash management and provide proof of it.
