JOB DESCRIPTION


Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, FDA, and other relevant laws, ensuring the hospital remains compliant with healthcare industry standards.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in the development, review, and enforcement of policies and procedures that comply with regulatory and legal standards.
  • Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct regular audits and assessments of hospital practices, procedures, and documentation to identify potential compliance risks.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver compliance training for staff and healthcare providers on regulatory updates, ethical standards, and risk management practices.
  • Investigations: Lead investigations of potential compliance violations, report findings to senior management, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed compliance reports to management, including updates on compliance status, risks, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks related to non-compliance, and work with the legal team to mitigate any risks associated with medical practice, patient safety, and confidentiality.
  • Collaboration: Work with various departments to ensure that compliance issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Law; required.
    • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a healthcare compliance role, preferably within a hospital or medical facility.
    • Experience with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, etc.) and auditing.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Certifications:

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) through the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) or similar compliance certification.
  • Certification in HIPAA Compliance preferred.
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).
  • Certification in Health Care Privacy and Security (CHPS) or Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHP).
