Job Summary
As a Collection Agent, you will be responsible for recovering outstanding debts from clients while maintaining a professional and respectful relationship. You will communicate with debtors through various channels and negotiate payment plans to ensure the timely collection of funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact debtors via phone, email, and written correspondence to collect overdue payments.
- Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements that are acceptable to both the debtor and the company.
- Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions in the company’s database.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve disputes related to outstanding debts.
- Report progress and challenges to the Collections Manager regularly.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding debt collection practices.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service and legal, as needed.
Qualifications
- Diploma or equivalent; additional education in finance or business is a plus.
- Previous experience in collections, customer service, or sales is preferred.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office and collections software.
- Familiarity with debt collection laws and regulations is an advantage.
