Assist in the supervision of chemical operations activities for designated shifts
Assist in making key decisions for designated shifts during operation.
Manage the demineralization plant operations.
Ensure chemical treatment activities required for the demineralization of groundwater and treatment of water.
Carry out operations of the Demineralisation (Demin) plant, water treatment plant
Provide direction and coordinate the activities of the Demin and CPP technicians
Ensure production and sufficient stocking of demineralized water for the units
Perform process improvement on chemical treatment of water
Monitoring and conditioning of the Boiler feed water.
Ensure sufficient availability & production of Demin water for the power generation units
Perform analysis of tests taken by chemical operations technicians
Assist in performing maintenance measures in the condensate polishing unit and online analysers
Ensure high availability and reliability of the condensate polishing unit and online analysers
Perform regular testing and monitoring of water quality
Conduct water analysis tests such as hardness, alkalinity, PH, turbidity, chlorine residual, etc., for treatment process control
Conduct water analysis tests to ensure safety and water quality by collecting representative water samples and testing for contaminants and properties such as colour, odour, chlorine, levels, nitrification, etc.
Conduct water main flushing and cleaning of water lines.
Perform regeneration activities.
Ensure adherence to safety, environment and other statutory guidelines
Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Section Head, Chemical Process.
Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy and application of departmental objectives
Ensure awareness of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 &45001:2018) and the implications of not conforming with the requirements.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Relevant postgraduate degree or qualification.
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience.
Skills and Competencies
Knowledgeable experience in managing end-to-end water chemistry in a power plant
Good laboratory techniques and practices
Good analytical skills
In-depth understanding of the cycle chemistry of a power plant
Knowledge of the power generation process
Ability to draw relevant inferences for operations and maintenance from chemical analysis
Knowledge of safe working procedures for chemical handling
