JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the incumbent will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks crucial
to the success of the department. These include revenue accounting, posting of journal entries, payroll
administration, performing general ledger account reconciliations and audit file indexes on monthly basis to
meet predetermined deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
o Perform are relevant activities to ensure monthly payroll is run promptly, pay slips distributed to
employees per the agreed timetable.
o Ensure compliance with all payroll statutory deductions and keep stakeholders informed about the
existing tax laws and accounting standards.
o Process all statutory payments such as PAYE, SSNIT, PF and others to ensure prompt filing of statutory
returns.
o Design bullion revenue schedule, update it with weekly shipments and outturn reports from the refinery
company.
o Reconcile gold assay reports between Asanko and Rand refinery, advise management to defer the assay
reports for umpire if the variance is above agreed splitting limits.
o Prepare routine and ad hoc reports relating to payroll and revenue transactions.
o Perform year-end tax reconciliations between tentative tax and actual tax paid to determine potential
tax liability or tax credit before completing every December payroll run.
o Prepare financial statements for both Obotan and Esaase SRF.
o Ensure bullion revenue including applicable royalties are recognized promptly and are in accordance with
revenue recognition policies.
o Cooperate and assist tax, internal and external auditors in carrying out their duties.
o Coordinate and maintain records of all documents relevant to your role and provide the appropriate
support materials, in both soft and hard copies, for auditing purposes. and make them available for any
type of audit.
o Account for Net smelter returns and $2/oz accruals per the agreements.
o Prepare audit file indexes for both AGGL and ADANS on monthly basis, provide prompt response to
queries raised by the Corporate Finance Team.
o Prepare the following reconciliations and corrections made before each financial period closure:
• PAYE
• SSNIT
• PF
• Wages & Salaries
• Rent Account.
• Union Dues
• Compassionate Loan
• Annual Leave Accrual
• Bonus Account
• Other Payables
• Receivable accounts
o Perform any other duties that will be assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
o A Degree in Commerce, Financial Accounting, or relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary
institution.
o Must have minimum of four (4) years’ post qualification experience in similar role in the mining or related
industry.
o Strong computer literacy skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
o A hands-on approach and be willing to work long hours to obtain required results;
o Proven knowledge in payroll accounting packages;
o Preparation of financial documents such as invoices, payment of vouchers, receipts, bills, accounts
payable and receivable.
o Perform bank reconciliations and verification of balances.
o Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license and proficiency in driving light vehicles;
