RESPONSIBILITIES


The People and Culture Business Partner:

  • Serve as the primary People & Culture partner for leaders and employees in designated business units.
  • Provide P&C expertise and guidance at all stages of the people leader and employee journey. 
  • Provide advice and coaching to people leaders and employees on all employment matters including interpreting FCM’s policies, guidelines and practices. 
  • Stay informed on the strategic landscape (business drivers, strategies, nuances, challenges) of the business units and proactively align P&C’s support to leaders and team members. 
  • Provides counsel and direction to both employees and people leaders to address employment-related matters, conducts investigations in response to complaints, and consults with other members of the P&C team to develop resolution. 
  • Participate in annual budget and workforce planning review working with the client groups and ensuring timelines are met. Define and deliver workforce planning communications, reporting and analytics plans.
  • Lead employee listening and engagement initiatives leading to trust and employee retention.  
  • Collaborate with people leaders to identify and strategically meet individual and team learning and development needs. 
  • Work with leaders to maintain a healthy work environment, prioritize employee engagement and support employee wellness initiatives while balancing the needs of the organization.
  • Provide advice and expertise on a variety of complex HR matters and/or situations. 
  • Monitors employment practices and decisions to ensure fair and ethical practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of key employment legislation/trends and collaborate with team members to develop policies and procedures applicable to their needs. 


KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • You are an exceptional and experienced professional who has served as the primary P&C Business Partner for leaders and employees in a designated business unit.
  • You have deep experience in providing P&C expertise and guidance at all stages of the people leader and employee journey, with special emphasis in: strategic workforce planning and talent acquisition; performance success; total rewards, learning and development, employee engagement, wellness and belonging.
  • You understand the complexities of managing cultural change in an organization and have experience in generating transformative actions through improved P&C strategies and processes.
  • You bring forward and apply the lens of anti-racism, diversity, equity & inclusion in all work and communications.
  • You have the right mix of strategic vision and operational know-how with a head for business and a heart for people.
  • You build deep trust and credibility quickly with your peers and can influence at all levels of the organization.
  • You are bilingual (oral and written) in both of Canada’s official languages.
  • You possess sound knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act and other relevant laws and policies.
  • You are legally eligible to work in Canada on a permanent full-time basis without sponsorship.
